A young reader pulls up a chair to enjoy a new book at Main Street in Downtown Waterville. Ellen Richmond has made her store the Children’s Book Cellar an inviting place for young readers to come and find something new to read.

We were greeted by this sign as we entered into the Mainely Brews Brewhouse & Restaurant for our family dinner at the Taste of Greater Waterville.  I must agree, there was nothing but good stuff to eat in there!

Two Cent Bridge Bike Racks – Waterville, ME

The Two Cent Bridge received its name historically as a toll footbridge at the turn of the 20th century.  It provided workers easy access across the Kennebec River to the mill on the Winslow side.  As a recognition of this registered historic landmark, the bike racks in downtown Waterville commemorate it.  If you haven’t been to the downtown area, or Main Street, there’s alot going on and continued improvements to the area for all our benefit.  Gotta like the idea of an “historic” bike rack!

At the front entrance to Main Street in Waterville is a metal frame holding several signs.  Off to the left you’ll find this one, the logo for the Waterville Main Street organization.  They have an office right on Main Street, and are a non-profit that seeks to advance efforts to develop the downtown area – commercially, socially, culturally and in entertainment.

Castonguay Square on Main Street – Waterville

Tucked away in the middle of Main Street in Downtown Waterville is a beautiful Castonguay Square.  If driving by it’s easily missed, but, it sits in bordered by City Hall, the Morning Sentinel, and several businesses just off the Main Street.  There’s a wealth of local history recorded in the park with a bicentennial stone, a cannon and more.  A great stop to have lunch on a sunny day in the Downtown!
